Why Green Technology?
Green is in the fashion. Everybody knows that.
But why did we choose to focus on this trend - even though green technology has been increasingly developing for at least 2 decades, it seems like we are only in the beginning of the green era.
As huge companies such as Yahoo and IBM go through enormous budget and structural changes in order to adjust their business to the green reality we see this as an evidence for the coming years.
First - what exactly is green computing?
Yahoo did so by re-building it's headquarters as an energy-saving environmentally friendly structure that will set an example for other corporations of how to save money and go green at the same time. As the CEO said in 2011:
“It was very, very essential that our impact on our bottom line and on the environment be as small as possible”

IBM has gone far beyond and have been setting the benchmark for decades, some say since the 70's, for an environmental conscience IT company. Environment effect measurements, monitoring and reporting, consistently and increasingly, have placed IBM in the top lists of the "most green corporations". It seems that theses guys have been taking the green trend into account long before it was trendy. Currently they are still at the top.

Along with other companies, such as HP, Dell and Apple, is seems that the big IT corporations have finally realized the link between going green, cost saving and public opinion.
In this blog we will cover different aspects of this trend and try to illustrate the paths to which this way of thinking and acting is taking the IT industry.
